What to see in October

Perpetual Groove @ The National 10/01/11- Perpetual Groove has amazing all instrumentals, catchy sing-a-long tunes, and a wide collection of great story telling jams. After an extensive summer tour and another succesful Amberland, they're back on the road for Fall and ready to bring it!

Beats Antique @ The Jefferson 10/05/11 - An experimental electronic group that's always pushing to improve their sound. Beat's Antique is a collection of 3 artists with diverse musical backgrouns that collaborate into infusions of hip-hop, jazz, Middle Eastern belly dance and more. With many different live instruments, they're continually covering new ground.

The Festy Experience @ Concert Grounds at Devil's Backbone 10/7-10/9/11- Heading into it's sophomore year, the Festy Expereince is a celebration of the Infamous Stringduster's and more. With trail runs, mountain bike racing and great local brews and sustenance, it's absolutely the place to be. Larry Keel and Natural Bridge, Trees On Fire, Rubblebucket and many mre join the Stringdusters for a wonderful weekend in the mountains to end out festy season.

Warren Haynes @ The National 10/14/11- Warren is a legend. After seeing him with Dark Star Orchesta at All Good, I'm more than ecstatic for his National performace. The Govt' Mule front man will have you groovin to some mighty fine southern rock, and provide you with a musical evening you won't soon forget.

Trey Anastasio Band @ Charlottesville Ntelos Pavillion 10/15/11 - Trey's return to C-ville will be epic. After a solid summer tour with Phish, TAB's fall tour is waiting to erupt in small venues with a more close and personal feel. You'll see awesome original TAB jam's, creative new sounds, and a sliver of Phish on the setlist as well.

Steve Aoki @ The National 10/19/11 - Steve Aoki is a driving force in the electronic world. After years of collaborations and mixes with big names, Steve's back on tour and will bring you the non-stop dance party beats.

Shockoball @ Canal Club 10/21- 10/23/11- Shockoball is back at it again! The Shocktober edition is bringing heavy hitters conspirator and Eclectic Method to headline this 2-day Art's and Music Festival. Sonic Spank, Former Champions, and many DJ's will round out this weekend that's conspiring to be an unforgettable experience. Check out the local artist's booths and support our great community!

Sound Tribe Sector 9 @ Jefferson Theater 10/23/11- STS9 is an array of electronic ambiance that'll keep you on your feet. The instrumental electronic rock band has a wide range from hip hop inspired to psychedelic jams. When paired with their light show, it truly makes for a unique audio visual experience.

EOTO @ Jefferson Theater 10/27/11 - Jason Hann and Michael Travis of The String Cheese Incident bring this 100% improve dubstep duo. A fan put's it best "A raging dance party that nobody should miss. An indescribable feeling that lingers for hours"

Papadosio @ The National 10/29/11 - Papadosio brings it back to Richmond! If you missed their performance in Blacksburg you should most definitely make it up with this one! The unique style of Papadosio cannot be pigeon holed and is one to be experienced.

What You Need to See in September

Okay, So I'm a little late with starting this for the month of September. My hope is to post all the shows I'm promoting (and then some)

Orchard Lounge @ Canal Club 9/17/11 - "Downtempo, space disco, house, tech, b-boy era electro, hip hop, soul, and funk รข€“ if you can move, Orchard Lounge will back you up."(Orchardlounge.com/aboutus.html) Orchard Lounge will keep you groovin' all night. These guys bring a kind of show that you can't help but feel the energy from the stage, the crowd, and everywhere in the room.

SOJA (Soldiers of Jah's Army) @ Jefferson Theater 9/17/11 - SOLD OUT! Soja returns to the Jeff to another sold out crowd. These guys are giving the reggae world a run from their money. And also are world change conscious. From their fb page "There is no doubt about it. This band is on the forefront of a Revolution with hopes to bring about positive change: environmentally, politically and socially"

Widespread Panic @ The National 9/19-9/21/11 - Panic's 25th anniversary tour is opening to sold out crowds all over the map. They've been a huge part of the jam scene for years now, and these are not shows to miss!!

Pretty Lights w/ Big Gigantic @ Charlottesville Ntelos Pavillion 9/21/11- Pretty Lights stole All Good late late night this year. With innovative lighting, new mixes coming out continually, and a huge stage presence, PL keeps the crowd GOING. Big Gigantic has been blowing up over the last few years. Dominic's Saxophone has such a powerful sound, they are unmistakable and a great time.

Orchard Lounge (PL And Big G after party) @ Main Street Arena 9/21/11 - (See above review)

Umphrey's McGee @ Jefferson Theater - 9/23/11 - Umphrey's brings it. Period. Playing to the crowd, they switch up their sound to accomodate the crowd. With such a versatile style, it's hard to see the same show twice. Their New Album "Death By Stereo" dropped 9/13

Spaghetti Fest 9 @ Stoney Creek Camp Resort - 9/23-9/25/11- Hosted By Midnight Spaghetti and Chocolate G Strings, this home grown independant music festival will be a weekend to remember. The host camp ground is a perfect setting for a relaxed weekend of taking in lots of great local and not so local bands. Calf Mountain Jam, The Sour Deemsters, and Pelicanesis are just a few names that'll have to dancing, all with their own unique sound. Whether you're into blue grass or funk, you'll have a great time at this charity event.

Kings Of Belmont @ Afton Mountain Vineyars - 9/24/11 - The Kings of Belmont have a very wide range of sound. From their spacey, jam originals to their absolutely flawless covers (Yes, 2001 was awesome at Floyd Fest!). If you haven't heard them, you need to check them out for sure.

Primus @ The National - 9/26/11 - Les Claypool is a God of music. If you missed Primus at All Good, you missed out! They also had a new album come out 9/13, which is phenominal GO GET IT!! This is a show not to be missed.

Dr Fameus @ Canal Club - 9/30/11 - Allen Aucion from the Disco Biscuit's electronic side project is a high energy, dance driven great time! His return to Canal Club will be a huge dance party for biscuits fans and new comers alike!
